WW2 pictures from then and now
This website is about the period 1940-1945 during the Second World War and the places or battlefields where it took place. This is the first great war where photographic material is made to report on developments and where the world has seen the horrors that war entails. These photo's are visible memories of places and people that have played a role during the different battlefields.
Each place on the website has a photo during world war II and a picture how it looks today. There is also information about the picture itself and you can see on google maps where the place of the photo can be found.
If you have photos of special places during the second world war, please let me know!
I will try to make a comparison photo and put it on the website.

During the battle for Malmedy the railway viaduct was to be blown by the Americans. Problem was that it was an immense stone arched construction. Eventually at 2.00 p.m. on December 22 the bridge was blown with 1,800 lbs of TNT, completely blocking the road. Last Updated (Wednesday, 04 May 2011 07:54) |
